Das Racist – Sit Down, Man
give me a second to figure out how to break this down….
All I ever hear about Rap is that it’s dead, usually when nothing good has come out for a month or two, and then someone(s) comes along and saves it from being the stale tired imitation of itself.
Das Racist will take control of the indie, alt rap, hip-hop have you genre for now with their ADD driven surplus swirl of synapse cracking information overloaded internet stream of consciousness. Or, as they call it, “panic attack rap”. These dudes are funny, intelligent, hyper aware of themselves and urban culture and they are heavily armed with a wealth of information – oh, I almost forgot, a deadly sense of irony. They know what they are doing and they know how to do it.
Get it while it’s still fresh.
Das Racist is based in Brooklyn, composed of Queens-born Himanshu Suri and San Francisco-born Victor Vazquez joined by hype man Ashok Kondabolu, known as Dap, for live performances and in music videos.
Listen with a soft focus.

Something else, (from wikipedia)
“When cartoonist Farley Katz of The New Yorker poked fun at Das Racist for ‘Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell,’ Vazquez (also a cartoonist) challenged Katz to a cartoon-off. Katz accepted, and The Village Voice declared Vazquez the unambiguous winner, saying he ‘destroyed’ Katz.”
The cartoons are worth checking out.
