James Blake – James Blake

[heavy rotation]

Welcome back.  It’s a new year and life is finally being lifted back into place.  A whole new year of brilliant and terrible music is here and waiting to drop and I already have a lot of catching up to do.  So, let’s get to it…

James Blake’s debut LP James Blake is already set to make my top ten albums of 2011.   Honestly, it’s that good.  And even more honestly, I’m only halfway through my first listen….I already want to start it over from the begining.

His style is an untraditional fusion of Electronic, Dubstep and Grime.  It’s delicate and spacious and the bass that he drops will shift any part of your body that’s touching the floor.  Obviously what you hear is vital but his use of space and silence on this LP accomplishes an intriguing dimension and atmosphere that is gripping to say the least.

He’s only 21, but this kid is a man and he works like one too – he released 3 EPs last year alone: The Bells SketchCMYK and KlavierwerkeI.

The official release date for James Blake is scheduled for February 7th.
